Our yoga practice begins before we even get to the studio and we each have a role to play to ensure everyone has a positive experience. Below are a few things to keep in mind when attending our classes.
Arrive with enough time so you are set up on your mat at class start time. Come early enough that you have time to change, fill your water bottle, grab your props, and get settled on your mat . We cannot start class until everyone is in the room so the studio door will be locked a few minutes before the listed start time.
Your yoga practice is your opportunity to disconnect. Leave your cell phone in the change room on silent and if you choose to wear a smartwatch, please have it in do not disturb mode so that notifications are off and screens are not lighting up while you practice.
Booking ahead ensures your spot in class and is especially important during the busy season when classes are often full. It also makes check in very quick and allows us to plan our classes better. We don’t want to have to turn anyone away.
Remove your footwear in the entrance hall when you arrive and come and say hello at the front desk. We want to get to know you and we don’t want to miss checking anyone in when it is busy. Doors will be open 20 minutes before class.
Yoga mat, water bottle, and comfortable clothing that you can move and sweat in. That's all you need! If you do not own or have forgotten a mat or water bottle you can rent/purchase what you need at the front desk.
Leave the outside, outside. We encourage visiting and making friends in the entrance hall and lobby. When you head into the studio, observe silence. This is your chance to start to let go of your day and get ready for class.
The heat amplifies smells and some of our members and teachers have scent sensitivities. If you are wearing perfume or cologne, have food or smoke odors on you, please have a quick shower before heading into the studio.
Drop the baggage! Only bring into the studio space what you need: mat, props, water and yourself. All other belongings belong in the change room. The studio door is locked during class and we have space behind the front desk for valuables.
We all may show up in different states, with different needs and goals, but one thing that we all have in common is the need for a safe, welcoming space and the loving support of a community behind us. Your yoga mat is your space to meet yourself and your current needs. And we on our individual mats play a part in supporting each other with understanding and empathy, using our collective movement and breath.
At Practice we acknowledge and are grateful to live, work and play on the traditional homelands of the Ktunaxa People.
